Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with postures that are held for longer periods of time (5-10 minutes per pose). Yin yoga postures apply moderate stress to the connective tissues the tendons, fascia, and ligaments which increases circulation in the joints and improves flexibility. Yin is a more meditative approach to yoga, cultivating awareness of one's inner silence and bringing to light a universal interconnecting quality.

Intro to Ayurveda

Led by Robbie Walsh

Ayurveda is the science of life.

Ayurveda is a holistic approach to health and wellness. Ayurvedic preventative care is a practice that encourages each individual to honor the space we exist in relationship to everything else. You thrive when all aspects of your life are thriving. When one aspect is being ignored, all other aspects of your life will reveal (in even subtle ways) the disconnect.

We will lay out the foundational principles of the holistic approach Ayurveda, a practice that focuses on caring for the WHOLE person. Through this workshop, you will:

  • Gain insights into Ayurveda’s holistic model of care

  • Understand Ayurveda’s definition of health

  • Learn Ayurveda’s connection to Yoga, its sister science

  • Understand Ayurveda’s elemental theory and the doshas

Discussion will also include:

  • A brief history of ayurveda and its vedic origin

  • Panchamahabhootas (the five great elements)

  • Our interconnection with nature, and the importance of living in harmony with the changing cycles of nature

  • Doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) – discover your unique mind/body constitution

Poses are held longer, allowing the body to relax further into connective tissues. There will be anatomical discussion and philosophy discussion in this teaching class. Yin Yoga Nidra

Led by Robbie Walsh

Yin Yoga: A slow-paced style of yoga with postures that are held for longer periods of time five to ten minutes per pose. Yin yoga postures apply moderate stress to the connective tissues the tendons, fascia, and ligaments increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. This is a more meditative approach to yoga, yin aims at cultivating awareness of one's inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality.

Yoga Nidra or Yoga Sleep Meditation: Here we will observe rest throughout the entire body. Laying down on the back with the whole body calm and relaxed, allowing the mind to move into a meditative state while also being guided throughout various major parts of the body moving our awareness to one section of the body at a time. Yoga nidra improves heart rate variability and balance in the autonomic nervous system. A regular practice of yoga relaxation has been found to help reduce tension and anxiety.

Yoga Painting • Painting Yoga

Led by Marie Carling

Finding new freedom and liberty through artistic expression on your yoga mat.

While yoga helps creative flow, focus, and intuition, art provides an even more creative experience to deepen the experiences of yoga. Have you ever wanted to experience freedom of expression for your body, soul and spirit? Have you wondered how your innermost self would look if it was released to express itself more creatively? Have you ever wondered what all that wonderful energy exerted on your mat would look like if you could actually see it? Have you doubted you have any artistic talent at all? Let's answer some of these questions.

This workshop is designed to bring you into a deeper awareness and understanding and unlock that creative nature that exists in each of us. We will explore the Chakras and/or other yogic subjects in a matter which provides a fun, yet spiritual, artistic experience and discover an expression of our individual souls. We will share an experience unlike any other that is playful, yet deeply draws the participants into a new sense of personal liberty and joyfully expressive oneness with each other and all things. Together we will explore the creative nature that abides in each of us.

We will produce a painting suitable for framing and a reusable custom designed yoga outfit.
